JW's are LOSING IT
by GetBusyLiving inat one of the last bookstudies i ever attended i heard a comment that really struck home to me how desperate these people really are getting, to the edge of insanity.
an older woman commented, "you can tell the end is coming.. its in the air.. you can feel it.. there is something in the air.. times are just.. different" and the whole time she was manically glancing around the room.
the conductor agreed with her.

Last summer when my mother was staying with me she told me that my sister had said that they way they were talking at the assembly that it would probably be the last assembly before the big A. I innocently asked if my sister told her specifically what was said regarding that to which she replied that oh, just the way things are going in the world it can't be much longer. I just smiled and said, well, we'll see.

Isn't it great to be a kid!
by Evesapple inmy son matt at felger park in chicago this afternoon.
so, happy and carefree with not a care in the world...it's so educational to see things through his eyes once in a while, to re-connect with innocence....there's no drug like it in the world :)

Watching them sleep is my favorite, not a care in the world, totally innocent, snuggled up with their stuffed animal dreaming of the next big day. Nothing like it.

Did you ever feel like you never fit in?
by Dragonlady76 inwhen i was growing up in dubland, i always felt like i never "fit" in with the other kids in the cong or their families.
i always knew deep down that i didn't like being a jw and their had to be more to life than meetings and field service.
i just wanted to be normal, like the other kids and have sleepovers, birthday parties, after school activities and christmas etc..... my folks were and still are devout dubs and my dad in particular is the nicest man you will ever meet, he would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it, no questions asked.

Yeah Dragon I hear you, I was raised in dubland from day one and I was well and truly screwed. I definitely did not fit in with the dub kids, as I think I hated the KH from day one, and hard as I tried I couldn't completely fit in with the worldly kids because of the restrictions put on me (sports, birthdays, holidays, etc.) So I basically was in no man's land somewhere inbetween. I did okay, it wasn't like I was an outcast but it was never "right". I remember vividly when I came out of the closet about playing football and my parents caved and let me continue to play, but wouldn't have anything to do with it, being the only guy on the team standing on the field alone on parents night. Even if I got to do what I wanted it was still screwed some how. The loss of a "normal" childhood is probably the thing that I hate the WBTS for the most.

Scientology & Tom Cruise
by rebel8 inthe stuff on the news is fascinating me, so i just had to start a thread about it.. yesterday i saw online at the guardian that tom cruise had hired some sort of cult bodyguard (tongue in cheek) to accompany his new girlfriend (katie holmes, an actress) around to continue her inculcation into scientology.
they are allegedly saying they're best friends now, though they met very recently.. i'm now reading the 6/17 issue of entertainment weekly magazine.
it says:he had a scientology massage tent on the set of his newest movie (his retort is he had a capuccino tent too)he compares psychiatry to nazis and claims jung (famous psychiatrist) was editor for nazi papers (a claim a jungian group denies)he says methadone was named after hitler (also refuted by the magazine)he slams brooke shields for using anti-depressants

As far as I can see, actors and musicians, and pro athletes are some of the biggest flakes on the planet, they just don't live in the same world with the rest of us. The old saying goes, if you're poor you're crazy, if your rich you're eccentric.

Medical ad·dic·tion (?-dik'sh?n)
n. Habitual psychological and physiological dependence on a substance or practice beyond one's voluntary control. It is very common to hear people say they are recovering alcoholics or drug addicts or I have even heard a columnist in a newspaper once refer to herself as a recovering catholic. How many here would classify themselves as "Recovering JW's?" How many here had a habitual need or dependence on the practice of being a JW?
